We have worked with many clients considering their career direction. Sometimes a careers query can be resolved in one meeting, i.e. where a limited number of career options are being considered and the information sought is readily available. Where there are several aspects to your query, which will be discussed in detail with you before confirming your appointments, an initial careers discussion will be scheduled at a time convenient for you. At the end of this meeting, specific careers services or a careers programme supported by psychometric testing may be recommended.
We offer two Careers Programmes which are tailored to your individual needs as well as additional career guidance services to assist you in your decision making. Details of these services are as follows:
Career Evaluation Programme
If you are considering changing jobs or reviewing you career direction but are somewhat unsure about what motivates you, what your skills are or even what your ‘ideal job’ looks like, a careers programme involving 4 x 1 hour sessions over a 4 to 6 week period will be recommended.
Through the use of facilitated careers exercises supported by research and reflection between each session, this programme will assist you to
- build awareness of your values and career drivers or motivators
- identify the skills that you prefer to use (i.e. your ‘motivated skills’)
- identify a range of potential roles and employers in your chosen career area/sector and
- create a job search plan and/or educational guidance strategy to assist you in moving towards your chosen career area.
Career Decision Making Programme
If you are totally unsure about your future career direction, a careers programme involving 4 x 1.5 hour sessions over a 6 to 8 week period and supported by psychometric testing will be recommended. Using information from your psychometric test careers reports, our facilitated and systematic career decision making process will assist you to build awareness of your career anchors, your personality preferences and your occupational interests. It will also help you to develop an understanding of the relationship between your unique personality preferences and career satisfaction.
The careers related psychometric tests used are long established and highly regarded instruments including 16PF5, the Myers Briggs Type Inventory and the Strong Interest Inventory. Testing is completed online and copies of your careers reports will be forwarded by e-mail immediately after your personalised feedback session.
The programme includes:
- 4 x 1.5 hour meetings over a 6 – 8 week period,
- Psychometric test administration and personalised feedback for 2 tests
- 2 careers reports issued via e-mail immediately after your feedback session
- Completion of facilitated careers exercises designed to identify values, motivators and skills
- Identification of preferred career sector and roles and
- Support with developing a job search strategy and/or educational guidance where skills gaps exist.
Individual Career Coaching Sessions
Clients can, if they prefer, opt to attend careers sessions on a more ad hoc or individual appointment basis and this is entirely possible, if preferred. In such cases, it is necessary to identify in advance of each session what would be addressed during the session and whether a 60 or 90 minute session would be required.
Psychometric Testing
Psychometric testing is also available as a standalone service and some clients find this very useful when making decisions on their career direction. The tests we use are all highly developed psychological instruments with stringently researched reliability and validity which can add significantly to your career decision making process.
Both ability (i.e. aptitude) and personality tests are available and in general, tests are completed online in advance of meeting. A personalised feedback session is then scheduled and a copy of the relevant report is forwarded via e-mail immediately after this session.
